Class project

The project is meant to show your understanding of what has been taught in class and in lab, that you can do some independent research within the remote sensing literature, and that you can test some idea/concept on your own.

With this in mind, a good project should reference some literature that is directly related to the topic of the project. Beyond just a review of existing work the project needs to show some experimentation and "hands-on" work with image data.

Possible project topics:

Compare unsupervised and supervised classifition
Consider the effects of spatial resolution on classifiction systems and classification accuracy
Incorporating GIS and/or GPS to assist with image analysis
Incorporating GIS and/or GPS to assist with classification accuracy assessment
Methods for monitoring changes with image data
Exploring accuracy assessment methods for change detection
Ways to improve natural resource management with image data (e.g. habitat modeling)

Note this list is meant to be a general suggestion of possible projects. In order to be able to finish in one semester, you will need to focus on a fairly particular topic. However, within that particular topic it would be good if you can combine several of the issues that have been covered in class and in labs.
