Bill Slocumb

Research Associate

Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management

Responsibilities:

Coordinate GIS research and development for the National Park Service (NPS) GIS Regional Technical Support Center, Northeast Region, providing professional GIS consultation, guidance, technical assistance and research for NPS units, programs and the Regional Office.

Develop and present workshops on the capabilities and functionality of GIS and GPS technologies to the NPS, including Natural Resources, Cultural Resources, Information Management, Visitor Protection, Lands Acquisition, Fire and Administrative Divisions.

Assist with strategic planning and implementation of spatial information systems technologies.

Develop and present specialized graduate level lectures and laboratories in the theory and application of spatial information systems technologies (NR 532 and NR 533).

Develop proposals for cooperative research, including the scope of work, methodologies, deliverables, scheduling and budgets.

Provide consultation to faculty, staff and graduate students in the theory and application of spatial information systems technology for research and teaching.

Supervise, mentor and provide guidance and consultation to graduate students.

Thin-client GIS delivery.

National Park Service Interagency Environmental Review custom GIS application development and technical support.

Cedar Creek & Belle Grove NHP land acquisition map production.

George Washington Birthplace NM natural resource condition assessment GIS technical support and assistance.
